Motorola Milestone Froyo update may not occur

Saturday July 24, 2010

The Motorola Milestone may never get a blob of Android Froyo. The mobile maker’s James King, seems puzzled after marketing in Europe, on whether to get the update to the QWERTY-packing powerhouse.

In a post on Motorola’s forum, King clarify that top brass were still making a decision on an upgrade, something he wants to happen “soon”. However, without taking much time he explains implementing Android 2.2 was not easy.

“Upgrades are not a walk in the park,” he said. “Sure there are shortcuts that people can take, but when you have to add software to a specific hardware, and then test it before joining together with third party applications….”

This does appear like a strange move though, the US version of the phone, is reportedly receiving an update. It also plead the question as to why Google rolls out such updates when Moto and HTC both struggle to get them working on their phones in good time. Presently only the soon-to-be-defunct Nexus One officially rocks Android 2.2.
